CPHQ study materials · 7 domains

CPHQ study materials that earn their place in your week.

Most candidates buy too much and finish too little. The exam is scored across seven domains with published weightings, so the only test a study material has to pass is whether it covers the domains that carry the marks. Here is what to cover, what we provide, and what you should get from NAHQ instead of from us.

What is included

Four materials, four different jobs.

Buying four things that do the same job is how a study budget disappears. These do different ones, which is the only reason to own all of them.

01

Videos

For anything with a picture in it — control charts, process maps, driver diagrams. Concepts you need reasoned out loud rather than defined on a page.

02

PDFs

For looking something up in thirty seconds. This is what you revise from in the last fortnight, when rewatching a lesson is the wrong use of an evening.

03

Mock exams

For finding out whether any of it stuck. A timed paper is the only thing that tells you you are ready; everything else tells you you are busy.

04

Study guides

For looking something up in thirty seconds. This is what you revise from in the last fortnight, when rewatching a lesson is the wrong use of an evening.

Listed as published on CPHQ Preparation Course.

What you have to cover

Judge any material against this list.

The seven scored domains, heaviest first, with the share of the paper each one carries. A study material that spends equal time on all seven is not matched to the exam — open a domain to see what sits inside it.

7 of 7 domains · 125 of 125 scored items

How healthcare organisations identify problems, improve processes and measure whether the change held. The largest domain on the exam, at 27 of the 125 scored items.

22% of the scored exam. Video time follows this weighting rather than splitting evenly across domains.

How to choose

Four questions to ask before you buy anything.

01

Is it weighted like the exam?

Performance & Process Improvement and Health Data Analytics carry 53 of the 125 scored items between them. A material that gives them the same space as the smallest domain is mis-weighted.

02

Which outline is it written to?

NAHQ revises the content outline. A resource written to a superseded version can be accurate and still be off-target, so check the edition before the price.

03

Does it do a job nothing else does?

A second question bank is not twice the practice. Own one thing for teaching, one for reference and one for testing, and stop.

04

Will it survive your rota?

A cohort you cannot attend and a subscription that expires mid-revision both fail this one, however good the material is.

Straight answer

What to get from us, and what to get from NAHQ.

We are an independent preparation provider. There are things we are the right source for and things we are simply not, and pretending otherwise would cost you more than it costs us.

Worth getting from us

  • Teaching the methods — improvement models, variation, safety analysis — in the order and the weighting the exam scores them.
  • Worked reasoning: why one reading of a chart is right and the obvious one is not.
  • Timed practice under exam conditions, and the explanations afterwards.
  • Condensed reference material to revise from in the last two weeks, when there is no time left to read a textbook.

Get this from NAHQ instead

  • The authoritative content outline — the definitive statement of what is in scope.
  • Eligibility rules, and whether your experience and qualifications qualify you.
  • Exam registration, fees, scheduling, retake policy and the testing centres.
  • Anything about the certification itself — recertification, CE requirements, and use of the credential.

Terms

How the materials behave.

Nothing expires mid-revision

Recorded rather than live. No cohort to keep up with and no session to miss when a shift moves.

Written and taught in English

The exam is sat in English, so the terminology you practise in is the terminology you are tested on.

One payment, kept for good

No subscription and no expiry, so the material is still there the week before you sit — and the week after, if you need it.

7-day money back

Work through the first two lessons. If it is not what you needed, email us inside 7 days and we refund in full.

FAQ

About the materials specifically.

What CPHQ study materials do I actually need?

Three things doing three different jobs: something that teaches the methods, something you can look a term up in quickly, and something that tests you under time. Judge each against the 7 scored domains and their weighting — Performance & Process Improvement 27, Health Data Analytics 26, Quality Leadership & Integration 19, Patient Safety 18, Quality Review & Accountability 16, Population Health & Care Transitions 11, Regulatory & Accreditation 8, 125 items in all.

What study materials are included in the course?

Videos, PDFs, Mock exams and Study guides, across 22 lessons and 18 hours of recorded teaching.

Do I need to buy the official NAHQ materials as well?

NAHQ is the authority on their own exam, and their published content outline is the definitive statement of what is in scope — read it whatever else you buy, because it is what every other resource is trying to cover. Eligibility, fees and registration should also come from NAHQ rather than from any preparation provider.

How long do I keep the study materials?

Permanently. One payment, no subscription and no expiry date, so the material is still available the week before you sit and afterwards if you need to refer back.

What language are the study materials in?

English, which is the language of the exam. Practising terminology in the language you will be tested in is part of the preparation rather than an obstacle to it.

What if the materials are not right for me?

Work through the first two lessons. If it is not what you needed, email us inside 7 days and we refund in full.

Are more study materials better?

No. Beyond one resource per job — teaching, reference, testing — additional material mostly buys reassurance rather than readiness, and it costs the hours you would otherwise have spent practising. Coverage of the weighted domains is what matters, not the size of the pile.
