The Yalla CPHQ Blog

Study strategy, patient safety practice and quality improvement — written by practitioners for healthcare quality professionals.

This blog exists to answer the questions healthcare professionals actually type into a search box on the way to the CPHQ exam: what the credential is worth, who is allowed to sit it, what NAHQ charges this year, how the seven content domains are weighted, and what changes between a first attempt and a pass. Every article is written to be read once and used — a reference you can come back to, not a blog post that expires.

It is organised into five areas. CPHQ Certification covers the credential itself: eligibility, cost, registration, renewal. Exam Preparation is method — study plans, practice questions, materials, and what exam day is really like. Quality Practice teaches the seven NAHQ domains as practice rather than as exam admin: performance improvement, health data analytics, patient safety, quality leadership, population health, regulatory work and accountability. Career & Salary looks at what the credential does for pay and progression, and how it compares with the alternatives. Egypt & Gulf covers what differs by country — regulators, employers, costs and exam logistics across Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The writing comes from practice, not from a syllabus summary. Articles are written or reviewed by Dr. Ahmed Habib, CPHQ, MD, MSc, a healthcare quality practitioner and educator, and most carry at least one passage from real project work — an improvement programme that under-delivered, a control chart that was misread, what an accreditation survey actually feels like from inside the department being surveyed.

Two rules govern everything published here. Every fee, question count and eligibility rule is traced to the body that sets it — normally NAHQ — and linked, so you can check it rather than take our word for it. And every article carries a visible review date, because exam costs and requirements change and a reference page that does not say when it was last checked is asking to be trusted on nothing. Where a figure cannot be sourced, it does not get published.
